Kandice's Personal Bio

Kandice Korves-Kaus is an inspirational visionary pioneer. She’s been a spiritual hoop warrior of the modern hoopdance community since its’ inception. For the past 9 years, she has performed and taught internationally, nationally and locally in Northern California, where she currently resides with her husband and partner Andrew Kaus.
She is a Holistic Hoopologist- researching and studying the hoops’ holistic potential for increased health, wellness and spiritual growth.

Dubbed the 'Spin Doctor' by Marin Independent Journal, “Korves fervently believes in the healing and even spiritual power of the hoop, a belief reflected in her teaching style and the hoops she makes.’ ‘She calls her neo-Hindu, post Wham-O shamanism ‘Holistic Hoopology’…she speaks as someone transformed by the hoop. She is the founder of Holistic Hooping™, and the co-creator/author of Holistic Hoopology. Combining a lifetime of dance training and experience with her Bachelors in Psychology, previous work as a CMT, current studies of Nassim Haramein’s Unified Field Theory and career in hoop and fire hoopdance instructing and performing- she cultivates a philosophy/theory/modality integrating hoopdance with elements of psychology, metaphysics, and spirituality. It is her mission to share these beliefs, and spread the love of the hoop worldwide.

Andrew's Personal Bio

Andrew Kaus, co-creator at Holistic Hooping™, is the inventor, prototype engineer and manufacturing manager of the LED & flex fire hoops that we offer. An all around technical genius, he creates innovative designs that are mimicked throughout the hoop community.

As a hoopdance performer he is energetic and playful, yet, graceful and mesmerizing to watch. Traveling internationally and nationally, alongside his wife & partner Kandice, he is a true testimony that men hoop too! He comes to class and our upcoming Kripalu retreat to share a male perspective on hooping and to encourage, teach and empower his peers.

Hillary's Personal Bio

Hilary Heart is a wholistic healer with a divinely inspired passion for life. With a B.A. of Religious Studies/ Peace and Conflict Studies from Humboldt State University, she approaches HOOPdance with a unique perspective, integrating wisdom traditions from around the world.
Hilary has been instrumental in the launch of a successful raw vegan company, Medicine Tree Foods. She also works as a healing artist in many modalities including: Thetahealing, Rife frequencies, aura visualization, and nutritional consultation.
As a hooper since age 5, traveling, performing, and teaching with Holistic Hooping is a dream come true.

Kandice's Performance Bio

Kandice Korves-Kaus (formally known as Kandice Bishop) has been immersed in the world of movement since a very young age. She began rolling and tumbling before she could even walk, and when she took her first steps she began to dance. She was in gymnastics at the age of 3, training with a team for many years. She then took her tights to dance classes, studying ballet, jazz, modern, tap, and African style dancing. She was already a figure skater by the time she pirouetted her way into a magnet school for the performing arts. In Junior and Senior High School she belonged to several dance troupes, performing school dance shows & exhibitions every semester. She also belonged to and/or studied under The Joffery Ballet, Alvin Alley’s Modern Dance Company, the Van Edge Dance Company, ISIA, USFSA, and the LA Conservatory for the Arts.

In 2000 she was introduced to the art of fire dancing when she lit her first fire hoop at a Southern California desert gathering called Moontribe. She quickly turned to professional fire dancing as a way of life- to channel fire’s paradoxical nature into fun, spiritual fulfillment- and even rent-paying gigs. Her passion for kinetic movement is obvious in her unique fusion of various dance disciplines with a variety of tools, such as: double/single fire hoop(s), fire fans, fire fingers, hand & palm torches, staffs, and contact fire. Her performances have been said to invoke Divine Feminine Energy- creating a mesmerizing embodiment of blissful, tribal, empowered energy!

She has had the opportunity to share her talents live in front of large audiences at such events as; Harmony Festival, Earthdance, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Techno Tribal, Reggae on the River, High Sierra Music Festival, the Oregon Country Fair, Summer Arts and Music Festival, SF Carnival, Faerieworlds, Electric Daisy Carnival, Nocturnal Wonderland, Monster Massive, Together as One, the LA Weekly Theatre Awards, ONE (an Alex Grey fundraiser), The SF Fire Expo, the Fire Arts Festival, the Bali Spirit Festival, Burning Man and many more.

She has had the privilege of collaborating with such artists as; Michael Franti, Heavyweight Dub Champions, Trance Global Underground, Ka’Nal, Medicine Drum, Midnight Sun, Valerie and the Vibe Tribe, The Good Vibe Hoop Tribe, Lunar Fire, Trillian Green, the Pyronauts, the LA Fire Conclave and, of course, Liquid Fire Mantra just to share a few.

She has been featured in the LA Times, Massage Magazine, The Marin Independent Journal, Evolver Magazine, The Redwood Times, The Independent, The Democratic, the Portland Tribune, the Share Guide and others. She has made TV appearances on KTLA news, the Fox 11 News, E Entertainment news, KCOP news, ABC news and a couple of sitcoms.

Her mission is to share her love of hooping, and the ‘Holistic Hoopology’ she has developed from her years of personal practice, with as many people that are willing to witness/listen/learn. Her favorite thing to do? Hoop and perform with her amazing husband Andrew!

Andrew's Performance Bio

Andrew Kaus has been active since a very young age. Instead of being given toys as a child, he was given tools. So that he could ‘build’ whatever it was that he wanted to play with. He enjoyed tearing apart toasters and other appliances and putting them back together again just so he could understand how they work. He quickly became a very intelligent and inventive young man who has only increased his talents in engineering, developing, building, and manufacturing. If you can dream it and then draw it, whether it’s a small item or a whole house- he can build it in whatever materials you want!

After a tragic accident, his business partner passed away, and he set out on ‘the road of life’ to find himself. It was then (in May, 2004) that he found his new wife Kandice. Suddenly he found himself building different fire tools and toys…coming up with many innovative designs. During this process he began to pick up the tools and play with them himself, and, wham! He soon discovered he had the talent to wield these new tools…he now had a new ‘tool box’ to work with.

He quickly developed a love for hooping and, soon after, an infatuation with fire hooping. At first, it was apparent where his training came from, his partner, but he swiftly found his own groove and style. His sweet and gentle nature gave himself the patience to improve at a very fast pace and he grew into quite a performer. Said to be a masculine powerhouse- he is athletic and energetic, yet graceful and sublimely beautiful to watch.

He has performed along side his wife in many shows at several events, such as: Harmony Festival, Techno Tribal, Reggae on the River, Burning Man, the Bali Spirit Festival, Summer Arts and Music Festival, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, High Sierra, the Oregon Country Fair, Faerieworlds, the SF Fire Dance Expo, and more! He has been published in The Times Standard, The Journal of Politics, People and Art, and The Redwood Times. As an international performer, he believes his first TV appearance is right around the corner.

His mission is to explore all the best things this life has to offer and to share his talents and knowledge with anyone that may need his help. He is always willing to assist anyone in co-creating their vision and bringing it into this physical reality. A caring, joyful, loving spirit that everyone seems to get along with- he brings inspiration, light, and happiness to the lives of those around him!
